How to Get Accepted to rewardStyle

I started blogging (and created my blog’s Instagram) back in August. I had heard of rewardStyle and liketoknow.it a little bit before I entered into the world of blogging but once I was actually a part of this world, it was literally all I saw! I followed so many amazing bloggers and Instagrammers who were part of the rewardStyle community and it instantly made me want to join. So in early October I (impulsively) decided to go ahead and apply. I got the rejection email almost immediately. In the rejection email, they tell you not to apply for another 4 months (at least).  It was a huge let down because I had been so excited.

After reading that email, I was determined to make my blog and Instagram the best that it could be. I had no idea if they would accept me when I went to apply again this past week…but they did! I got the acceptance email the next morning and I was so thrilled! (it sounds like I’m talking about getting accepted into college lol) After I posted my first liketoknow.it Instagram picture, I had a few people reach out to me asking what I did to get accepted. I know there are so many people out there who get rejected once, twice, or even three times. Please don’t get discouraged! In this post, I’m going to talk about the 3 main things I did after being rejected…and how they helped me get accepted!

rewardStyle mainly focuses on Instagram when they’re looking at whether or not to accept you. After being rejected, I took a good look at what I was posting on my Instagram. I noticed I was sometimes posting random pictures that had nothing to do with my niche(s) (fashion, beauty, and lifestyle). These random pictures negatively affected my page’s aesthetic…which basically meant I didn’t have an aesthetic. So I made sure to focus on taking high quality photos with good lighting. I also made sure to only post pictures related to fashion, beauty, and lifestyle. Even if I took a super cute picture of my family’s dog, I wouldn’t post it.

I also think rewardStyle looks at how often you interact with your followers. I made sure to spend a lot of my time responding to any and all comments that people left on my pictures. I think they like to see that you’re engaging with people and not just posting a picture and leaving (if that makes sense).

Another amazing thing that I think really helped me, was joining Instagram pods and Telegram groups. rewardStyle likes to see a high engagement rate on your Instagram page. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to have thousands of followers or likes. It just means that they like to see lots of comments on your pictures. Joining Instagram pods and Telegram groups really helped to grow my engagement. Telegram is basically like WhatsApp but instead of texting people from around the world, bloggers use it to create Instagram engagement groups. Basically, you join a group of fellow Instagrammers who are in the same niche as you and comment on each other’s pictures. It’s a super fun way to meet new people that share your same interests and it’s also a great way to grow your engagement. Feel free to message me on Instagram and I can send you an invite to some Telegram groups I’m a part of! The more the merrier!

I wrote a blog post on the do’s and don’ts of Instagram, if you want to read more about how to have the best Insta page possible!

From what I’ve discovered (and read), rewardStyle likes to see at least 4 months of solid blogging content before they will accept you. Now, obviously I didn’t have 4 months of good content back in October…I only had 2 (barely lol). So I really worked on creating the best content I could. I started posting 3 days a week and I also did Blogmas (which I think really helped because I posted everyday and that seriously helped to grow my blog’s exposure).

I also took a look at my writing. Now, I’m not saying I’m an amazing writer (because I definitely forget punctuation here and there…among other things) but I made sure to focus on grammar, punctuation, and finding my own writing style after getting rejected. There is always room for improvement and I think rewardStyle saw that when they were reviewing my application back in October.

When you apply to rewardStyle, they ask you how many views (not followers/subscribers) your blog has. When I first applied, I had like less than 2,000. When I applied the second time, I had well over that number. This tells me that they look at what kind of exposure your blog is getting and how many people view it. I don’t think this is a huge factor (because I definitely don’t have thousands and thousands of page views), but they definitely take it into consideration.

When applying, they also ask what other platforms you regularly post on (like Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, etc). Make sure to post regularly on at least one of these platforms so you can include that on your application.

This is a crucial step in being accepted. rewardStyle likes to know that you’ve made connections in the blogging community. Reach out to someone who you have a connection with (and who’s part of rewardStyle already) and ask them to refer you. It takes them about 5 seconds to do and I’m sure they would be more than happy to help! I’ve already referred someone and would be happy to refer anyone else, so again just message me on Instagram!

Getting accepted to rewardStyle can be hard, annoying and frustrating. Hopefully though, this blog post will help you! Keep in mind, these aren’t proven steps to take…just ones that I took after getting rejected and ones that helped me get accepted the second time. Again, the amount of followers your blog, Instagram, Twitter or Pinterest page have doesn’t really matter. What matters is the engagement on those platforms and the quality of content you put out.

After writing this entire blog post, I’m going to sound silly saying this but it’s true…as long as you love what you’re doing and love the content you are putting out, don’t stress about getting accepted to these kind of affiliate programs. I know it’s easier said than done but try to enjoy what you’re doing and if you do, then making these changes will be quick, easy and effective. You’ll be accepted in no time!

Lastly…please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, want to be referred, or want to join a Telegram group!  Just leave a comment below or message me on Instagram!

  1. This is SO helpful! I’m really just starting out and focusing on things can be so hard (because: all the things!) You have great advice. I’m going to keep with it but would love to chat more with you about some of the additional recommendations you have about making connections with other bloggers and getting ready to apply to rewardStyle.

  3. Thank you so much for your insight on this. I have reached out to so many fellow bloggers and I have not gotten any feedback what so ever. It is so nice to have someone willing to share their knowledge, experience, and success rather than keep it concealed. I just followed along to your Instagram account. I would love to connect with you further!

    XOXO.
